Bird Banter Dutch Fold Card

Hello everyone, are we still all enjoying the heatwave or are we over it? I’m back at work so have the luxury of air conditioning and I never thought I would say this but I’m really enjoying the cool!

Today I thought I would share another card I made using the Bird Banter stamp set which I’ve fallen in love with. I had such fun making this card and used as many of the birds as I could manage. Each of the birds has been coloured using the Stampin’ Blends and like many other demonstrators and Stampin’ Up fans I’m in love with them too. My inspiration for the parrot was the parrots we get around home in spring early summer, so bright and cheery but they do eat the buds off the Cherry Tree just as it is coming into flower – my only complaint.

The card design is a fun fancy dutch fold which uses some designer series paper, in this case the naturally eclectic set as well as stamping. In stamping the bird and branch on the card front I’ve used the masking technique. Inside the card I’ve stamped the budgies and the cockatoo on the insert and dutch fold doors, and a sentiment. The card stock uses two of this year’s in colours lemon lime twist and tranquil tide and shimmery white card stock for stamping and colouring.

Stampin’ Up 2018 Occasions Catalogue Designer Series paper

Hello everyone, as we are at the beginning of the year I have been going through my designer series papers and the large volume of scrap paper (or offcuts), and decided to make up some cards using up retired and scrap pieces of paper. Later in the week I’ll show you some of those cards, however today I thought I would show you the reason I am doing this. Yes I want to destash retired and scrap stock, however my main reason is when I look through the 2018 Occasions catalogue the new sets of designer series papers are really beautiful.

So today’s share is a Stampin’ Up video to showcase both sides of all the designer series papers in the new catalogue.

Heart Happiness

Today is one of those grey days, cooler than we have had which is lovely and the breeze is really refreshing. However on a day like today you just need a bright cheery card for a lift and this new Heart Happiness stamp set from the Occasions catalogue in these beautiful bright colours just fits the bill in my book. So the Heart Happiness stamp set is great because not only is it bright and cheery but the Lots of Love Box framelits in the Occasions catalogue goes with the set as does the Sweet and Sassy framelits in the annual catalogue.

I’ve stamped the hearts in Melon Mambo ink and Peekaboo Peach for that vivid cheery colour, and cut out the 3 larger hearts using both sets of framelits – Sweet and Sassy, and Lots to Love Box framelits, adhering the two smaller ones on dimensionals. The smallest hearts are stamped in Peekaboo Peach and embellished with melon mambo enamel dots and berry burst ribbon which works well for the final touch.

The cardstock used is whisper white thick, a mat of melon mambo and whisper white for the card front and insert. The sentiment on the card insert is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set because this card is for a special friend.

Beautiful Peacock Week 2

Hello everyone, well this week I promised to share another card with the Beautiful Peacock sale-a-bration stamp set so today’s card is the second card in the series. When I looked online at the colours for peacocks for my first card I was amazed to find that they come in blues, greens, purples, hot pinks, whites, browns and on it goes. So today’s card is a Peacock in Basic Grey ink with Powder Pink and Berry Burst feathers.

The rhinestones add a bit of dimension and focus for the centre of the end of the feather. One of the advantages of this set is that the two different sorts of ‘feather’ stamps can be used as a flourish on a different sort of card for a completely different look.

The card stock used in this card is whisper white thick, powder pink and whisper white for the card front. This is a cute card to send to a friend just to say hi and it’s also an nice one to receive.

How to Reassemble a Stamp Pad

Hello everyone, today I had a one of those disastrous days – we all have them don’t we. Well mine was completely pulling apart my berry burst stamp pad with pink ink everywhere – and I do mean everywhere! For some reason my brain wasn’t on the right gear and I could not get the stamp pad reassembled.

Our Stampin’ Up Demonstrator Support team are amazing and they put me onto this “How to do it” video which I am sharing today as I am sure many of you have also had the same problem.

Birthday Blooms Eclipse Card

Hello everyone, today’s project was inspired by my garden during the springtime. I love roses of any kind but especially the old fashioned roses with their delicate petals and colours and beautiful fragrance. The first photo is some of the roses from my garden in early spring that inspired today’s card using the Birthday Blooms stamp set below.

To make this card I have first stamped in basic black archival ink, and when dry I coloured the Birthday Blooms image using the watercolour pencils and aqua painter. The colours used are rich razzleberry and old olive. For the eclipse technique I have used the Sweet and Sassy Framelits 3D image adhered with dimensionals. I finished the card with some wink of stella clear in the centre of the rose which I had also coloured a slightly deeper shade of the rich razzleberry by going over it a second time. This really made the centre of the card pop and stand out although this doesn’t show to best effect in the photo.

The cardstock used is shimmery white cardstock which is great for to watercolour on and gives a nice shimmer effect. The mat is rich razzleberry and the embellishments glitter enamel dots.

Other supplies used include: Bigshot, trimmer, bone folder, adhesive and dimensionals.
