Designer Series Paper

Hello everyone, today I thought I would share something slightly different and show some the projects I made during January when I looked through my selection of retired and scrap pieces of designer series papers. I wanted to start the year free of leftover pieces of designer series paper and to use up my retired papers, ribbon and embellishments. Mostly the designer paper scraps were not large enough to create a whole project or card, and definitely not big enough for 3D projects so I came up with a few designs and made a selection of birthday cards, thank you cards, get well cards and encouragement cards.

As you will see going through the medley of cards some are designed with an image on the card front stamped or coloured, others have a greeting stamped and others a die cut greeting. Some cards are a standard size card and others have a fancy fold such as the gatefold and joy fold cards above.

While the papers, ribbon and embellishments are retired the stamps on the front are all from current catalogues. Above we have greetings from Just Add Text and One big Meaning rubber stamp sets from the 2018 annual catalogue. The top left hand corner card is Bird Banter from the 2018 Occasions catalogue.

The stamp sets above include Bella and friends, Label Me Pretty, Amazing You and the Celebrate You thinlit dies from this year’s sale-a-bration catalogue. Most of the colouring in the images is done with the Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers

This final selection uses images from Bella and Friends, Birthday Blooms and Beautiful You stamp sets from the annual catalogue.

Most of these cards will go to a children’s charity and some of the birthday cards will go to friends so I’m sure they will be put to good use. I hope this has given some ideas for using your left over pieces of designer series papers,

Dragon Fly Dreams Meets Touches of Texture

Hello everyone, I had a lot of fun making today’s project as I decided to play with a couple of stamp sets I haven’t used for a while – Touches of Texture stamp set and the Dragon Fly Dreams stamp set. These are both clear stamp sets and give a good crisp image when stamping. I was also in the mood for blue – green colours, I don’t know if you ever get colours in your head when crafting but I do and I just need to go with it. So today I have used Bermuda Bay cardstock for the base card, two mats – one in basic black and the other in pool party card stock, and finally whisper white for the insert and card front.

As a background I have stamped two different stamps in the Touches of Texture stamp set, one in pool party ink, and the other in bermuda bay. The dragon flies are stamped underneath in pool party and bermuda bay inks, and then came the fun part. I felt in a whimsical mood and decided to die cut the dragon fly wings but I wanted them to look very dainty, transparent and shimmery. To get the effect I was after I used my Stampin’ Blends to colour some vellum using the same two colours pool party and bermuda bay, and I used the light and dark shades of each colour to give a textured effect. I cut out the wings using the coordinating dragon fly framelits and adhered them with glue dots to the card front. For my shimmery dragonfly wings I used liberal coatings of wink of stella and once dry I embellished the card front with rhinestones and pool party enamel accents.

The insert was fairly simple using the stamp sets from the Touches of Texture stamp set in both smokey slate and bermuda bay.

I was pleased with the final result especially the dragon fly wings, I hope you enjoyed it too.

Lots of Lavender

Hello everyone today is a beautiful day to celebrate Waitangi Day and I have spent some time crafting. One of the creations I came up with was a simple card with a two step stamping technique using the Lots of Lavender stamp set from the current sale-a-bration catalogue. The stamp set is photopolymer so stamping on the Stampin’ Pierce mat will give the best results .

I’ve gone with classic colours of wisteria wonder and a neutral mat of basic black and used whisper white for the images and insert. Inks used to colour are basic black, wisteria wonder, wasabi green with a touch of bermuda bay for the ribbon. The greeting also comes in the sale-a-bration catalogue from the Amazing You framelits and is a freebie with qualifying orders making this a very economical card to make. The only cost is the card stock, inks and rhinestones to embellish the card. I’ve adhered the centre panel with dimensionals to give that added depth as a feature for the card.

The card insert is quite delicate and also from the same Lots of Lavender stamp set. I had fun putting this together and am quite pleased with the result.

Year of Eastern Palace Cheer Dinner Invitations

Hello everyone, recently I was asked to make some dinner invitations for someone organising an Honouring Dinner to honour and celebrate a group of older or senior people she knew. I decided that for an honouring dinner they needed to be special invitations. As I was making them I started thinking that we don’t honour the older people in our communities enough or thank them for everything they have been through and done for us. This seemed a really nice way to acknowledge their lives and their achievements to our society.

I settled on the Year of Cheer designer series paper, (in fact I went straight to this paper), and then got out the foil to go with it. The decoration on the front is made using the Eastern Palace framelits. The card has a pocket to take the invitation and an inbuilt “easel” to help it stand up. Depending on which sheet of designer paper I used I matched the coordinating foil cardstock using silver, gold and champagne (my new favourite foil). The foil is used for the mat and one of the Eastern Palace framelit dies on the card front.

Inside the card the invitation has been printed on whisper white with a coordinating foil mat and tab. The gold, silver or copper ribbon has been used on the tab. The other supplies used are whisper white thick cardstock, gold and silver glitter accents, layering circles framelits and eastern palace framelits for the card front, the circle tab punch, 1/16″ circle punch, gold or silver thread, adhesive, trimmer and bone folder.

They were well received and 2 people who had received them came up afterwards and said how special the invites had made them feel which was the main purpose.

I hope you enjoy this project and perhaps try a variation for Christmas or a New Year barbecue.
