Hello everyone, today I am looking forward to sharing one of our projects from this month’s card class. I was inspired for this project by one made by Sam Hammond in the UK and I ended up making quite a few for gifts. The notecard box holder is a great handmade gift and you can use any coordinating cardstock and designer series paper.

This version is the one we made in class and uses the tranquil textures designer series paper and either fresh fig cardstock or tranquil tide to coordinate with the paper on the outside. The cardstock dimensions are 29cm x 20cm scored on the long side at 3, 13, 16 and 26cm; and scored on the short side at 3 and 17cm. Cutting the corner and centre flaps on the long side up to the first horizontal score line and wedge so the flaps sit flat. The paper for the box front measures 13.5 x 9.5cm and I used the 2 largest squares from the layering squares dies for the image and greeting. The ribbon forms a “belly band” that slides on and off for easy opening.

The box holds at least 5 notecards and envelopes. This was a really fun class which ended up being quite freelance. We all started out with the same supplies but had quite individual looking projects at the end which was great. We used a selection of cardstock for the mats including mint macaron, tranquil tide, berry burst and fresh fig, and coordinating inks. This project was also a last hoorah for the 2017-2019 incolours. Wink of stella helped to create a sparkly watercolour effect for the colouring.

This version used Share what you love designer series paper and when you open the box voila!

I used these as mother’s day gifts for family members and gave one to someone for a 50th birthday gift and everyone really loved them.
If you’d like to come to a class and make some of these projects please contact me,
Bye for now
