Hello everyone, I have been so busy crafting lately I have forgotten to share some of the end results. It is the time of year when the month is so busy with lots of birthdays and events on a family front as well as friend’s birthdays and classes and it goes on. It’s an interesting time for me because the waiting to buy from the new catalogue gets harder and harder as the month creeps ever so slowly towards the end.
So I have tried to make a point of using some of my much loved items, (aren’t they all), and using them for cards for the month. This card is one of the projects we made for the May card class. The fancy fold technique using a double gate – fold card with the floral boutique designer paper is a real winner. The matching envelope here is made with the envelope punch board and the same design of paper.
The belly band made with night of navy cardstock and decorated with the designer paper and botanical framelits adds the real pizzazz!
Inside the card whisper white card stock is matted on night of navy and adhered to the designer paper for extra sturdiness. Here I have used a stamp from the floral phrases stamp set in night of navy, but in another version using the flirty flamingo in-colour designer paper I used a stamp set from the High Tide set that has the most gorgeous words especially if you know someone who needs a little ‘pick-me-up’.
The designer paper dimensions are 12″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 2″, 4″ 8″, 10″. With a pencil lightly mark on the long side the top of the 4″ and 8″ score line, and on each end of the short side mark at 2 3/4″. Trim at an angle from the 4″ to the 23/4″ mark, and again from the 8″ to the 2 3/4″ mark and place the 2 cut off pieces back where you cut them from. Take the top right cutoff piece, flip it over and bring it down diagonally to the opposite side at the bottom and adhere. Repeat with the other cut off piece. Mat and adhere the cardstock in the centre of the card and fold according to the photo. Stamp your insert as desired.
Assemble the belly band and make your envelope following the instructions on the envelope punch board. Assemble the flower and attach a rhinestone for sparkle.
The card has a wow factor and will go down well with the recipient. Mine is for my mother and I plan to give it to her in a couple of weeks on the anniversary of my dad’s death which is a day we always find hard.
I hope you enjoyed this project and give it a try. If you are new to the site sign up for my newsletter to keep up with the news and views and most of all the specials. There is one coming for the month of June for anyone who hosts a workshop so don’t miss out.
Bye for now,
