Christmas Aurora Southern Lights

Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! A few years ago I had a holiday in Alaska somewhere I had wanted to go for a long time and it was a great trip but I really wanted to see the Northern Lights and I missed out. In New Zealand we have the Southern Lights an equal rival and they are much closer to home and definitely on my bucket list but I haven’t got there yet. This evening I went to a Christmas service with lots of Christmas lights and a beautiful star hanging above. It made me wonder whether on that Christmas Eve two thousand years ago the lights in the sky were much like the aurora of Alaska or the south island of New Zealand and the glorious star brilliantly lit in a blaze of colour. The cards below are my version of what may have been on that night.

Swirly Scribbles Wreath with Pretty Pines

I have now made my final Christmas card for 2016 (I think). I cased this card from one I saw on pinterest and again have used one of my favourite cardstock colours, baked brown sugar (retired). I love the golden richness of this cardstock and it goes beautifully with the gold foil. I have made the design in both portrait and landscape style and can’t decide which I prefer so again I will let you decide – I suspect it will be personal choice anyway.

The card has a few bits to assemble but was fun to make and I was pleased with the result. Lovely as a Pohutakawa Tree Christmas

Hi there, well today my blog is true to my roots. I’m a kiwi girl at heart and love living in New Zealand and driving to work these last couple of weeks has been a real treat withe the Pohutakawa Tree in full bloom. If you don’t live in New Zealand you really are missing something this year, our native Christmas Tree is really showing off. So I decided at least one of my Christmas cards needed to be a kiwi Christmas card so this is my rendition of the Pohutakawa tree and I have a friend who loves New Zealand summer Christmases so this is perfect for her. I couldn’t decided about the bling but I have another friend who believes a card is not a card without bling – so you decide.

Personally I like the bling! Its an easy card to make and is just stamping but instead of limiting to one or two stamp sets I used what I needed to get the effect I was after.

Supplies included: Stamp sets: Work of Art, Lovely as a Tree, Touches of Texture and Christmas Pines Cardstock: Baked brown sugar (retired but I love the golden colour), mint macaron, whisper white Ink: Baked brown sugar (retired), pool party, espresso, garden green, mint macaron, cherry cobbler Other: adhesive, trimmer, wink of stella clear, fancy frost sequins

Use another sentiment and this could easily be birthday or an any reason card!

Bella & Friends Christmas

If you have read a little about me you will know by now that I love animals and have a small dog named Monty. A lovely lady comes to walk him for me some days and so my Christmas card for her needed be just a little bit different. This stamp set was perfect for the purpose.

Totally Trees on Copper Foil

The very first item that caught my eye from the Holiday catalogue was the copper foil so when I saw a version of this card on Pinterest it was a no brainer to use for one of my Christmas cards this year. I have cased the card I saw and this is the finished product another simple to make but very effective card.

Bloomin’ Hearts

Some friends got engaged a couple of weeks ago and I have made this card to give for their engagement party next week. The Bigshot precision plate makes it really easy to get a good cut of the detailed thinlit first time, and the die brush and foam mat make it easy to remove the pieces without damaging the image.
